About: Bennington Pottery Book Flask. Stamped “Fenton’s Enamel Patented”. / “1849” in a circle.  Stamped title “Departed Spirits” Rockingham Flint Enamel Glaze. In the form of a book, mottled brown glaze with tan, green and blue specks. Beautiful colors. Condition: excellent. No cracks, scratches or chips.

Provenance: Listed in Catalogue of “A Loan Exhibition of Early American Pottery & Early American Glass, from the personal collection of George S. McKearin” (Number #438 from the private collection of McKearin.)
