About:  A romantic Amsterdam street scene with a gabled brick and stone building, horse and cart, villagers, and a church.  Condition: Small in-painting in upper center sky, and cleaned.  Reframed in a black carved Dutch frame with a pie-crust molding.

Eduard Alexander Hilverdink Biography

Eduard Alexander Hilverdink was born and worked in Amsterdam. Dutch (1846-1891).

His works were realistic and accurate, topographically accurate representations of buildings and locations.  He worked in oils and watercolors.

Painted:  Landscape with figures, marshes, village scenes, rivers, canals, animals, cathedrals, windmills, seascapes, harbors, street scenes.

Winter scenes were amongst his best works.  He was the pupil of his father, the famous artist, Johannes Hilverdink (1813-1902).

Hilverdink’s works may be found in permanent collections of museums throughout Europe and America: Rijksmuseum Amsterdam , the Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar, the John Selbach Museum Maaseik, and Amsterdam Museum.
